WOULDHAM SANTA FUN RUN – 14TH DECEMBER 2014
Just to say a huge thank you to all of you who took part in the Wouldham Fun Run today – We were pleasantly surprised & loved the Christmassy outfits 🙂
Another thank you goes out to those who helped organise the event – Anne Marr took a suggested idea & ran with it (literally! Lol) superb effort, especially with the Mulled Wine 😉
Special Thanks goes to three other members of the community:
Charlene Malone for helping with the games & kids Zumba.
Abbi Miles for face painting, especially persevering until the end so every child had their go!

Also….the event was mainly focused on doing something for the children of Wouldham & not focused on fundraising but after subtracting the costs for food & drink we still managed to raise £47 from your kind donations 🙂 thankyou!

The Quiz Night held on 14 November 2014 was very successful and raised £213.74 – Sincere thanks to Anne Marr for organising it, Ken Jones (from Burham) for preparing the questions, Andy Marr for being the Quizmaster on the night, Fred Callow for keeping score and Claire Marr for collecting answer sheets. A sincere thanks to everyone who attended and helped on the night to make it a great success!
Prizes for the raffle were donated by residents of the village and from the Royal Engineers Museum (A Family Day Pass).
RACE NIGHT – £164.24 was raised at the Race Night on 24th October 2014 held at the Waterman's Arms. Thank you to everyone who supported this event. Special thanks to Glyn and Sandra Walters for running the night, to Sharon Elvins and Karen Tierney for helping out taking stakes and to Mandi and Alan for hosting the event at the Watermans and the buffet laid on.
Unfortunately the Halloween drop in and the table top sale events have had to be cancelled due to emergency work taking place in the Village Hall this week. The table top sale will be rescheduled – watch this space for a new date. Trenport kindly donated £60 towards the Halloween drop in for the children. As this has been cancelled, we will using the money towards a Christmas Drop In on Saturday 14th December – final details will be confirmed on this website and the village notice boards.

The Wouldham Project Update – The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 9th July 2014 at 7.30pm at the Watermans Arms, then every other Wednesday from then on – Check ‘Keep Wouldham Connected’ & ‘Wouldham’ facebook pages for updates on meeting dates and times.
The Fundraising Committee are working towards submitting a new application to the ‘lottery fund’ to obtain the funding needed for the new hall. This is going to take some time to prepare, firstly a new feasibility study is required to generate the evidence and give our application the best chance to succeed. The committee are currently looking into the requirements of the feasibility study which will take some time to undertake. Two members of the fundraising committee recently attended a fundraising event run by Kent County Council, where advice and guidance was on hand from experienced fundraisers. There were many businesses and grant bodies at the event, with funds available to possible help towards our campaign. Advice was given to ensure we approach any grant application correctly, to ensure we try our best to get the funds for the new hall.
To also support our grant applications the residents of Wouldham need to show, that as a community ‘we have a need for a new hall’. The community need to demonstrate this by showing that there are community activities, clubs and events going on in the village – and that these are impacted because of the size and availability of the existing hall.
‘The Wouldham Project’ desperately need willing volunteers to organise and run events, clubs and activities. This can be small contribution either as a one-off, weekly, monthly or bi-monthly contribution. The recent Quiz Night was a great success, the hall was full, we will hopefully be running a quiz night four times a year, with the view to arranging the next one to take place in September. It doesn’t matter how small the contribution, one-off or shared with others, we would really appreciate any assistance to help with fundraising and help encourage community involvement.
We also like to take this opportunity to ask if there is anyone willing to be a trustee, we need one or two to help support the campaign – ideally someone who already uses the hall on a regular basis, minimal input required (Attendance at all Meetings is not necessary).

The Quiz Night held on 20th June 2014 was a very successful and raised £258.90 – Sincere thanks to Anne Marr for organising it, Ken Jones (from Burham) for preparing the questions, Tim Fulwell for being the Quizmaster on the night, Fred Callow for keeping score and everyone who attended and helped on the night to make it a great success!
Prizes for the raffle were donated by residents of the village and from Reeves Airport Transfers (a free transfer from Rochester or Maidstone) and ‘Chartwell’ in Westerham, Kent (A Family Day Pass).
